Obituary for Sharon L. Green
Ms. Sharon Green, 66, of Maumelle, AR departed this life on Sunday, September 5, 2021. She was born August 26, 1955 in San Diego, CA to the late Meriot Green and Willie Emma Jones-Green.
She was the eldest of three children born to this union.
Sharon accepted Christ at an early age at the 32nd Street Church of Christ, where she attended for several years before moving to Raven Street Church of Christ. In her later years she changed her religion to the Baptist faith and was baptized by Rev. Joe White. She then moved to Linda Vista Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Greene. There she became the head of the Greeters Ministry. She remained at Linda Vista, until finding a home at New Life Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Troy Owens where she remained until moving to Arkansas where she united with Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. James Mackey is the Pastor.
Sharon was educated at San Diego High School where she was elected Senior Class President. She also attended Community College in San Diego before moving on to The University of California at Santa Barbara. After her mother’s illness she transferred back to San Diego where she completed her education at National University. (Bachelor of Science in Organizational Development and a Master’s in Education). After retiring in 2011 she became active with the San Diego High School Alumni Association. She remained a board member to this day,
Sharon worked for the San Diego Unified School District for over 20 years. Although she had no children of her own, she still maintained a relationship with many of her students. She became active in the NEA (National Education Association) and had opportunities to travel not only locally to speak about education rights but attended several national conferences and trainings.
She is survived by two brothers Alvin Kenneth Green of San Diego, CA and Cedric J. Green of Surprise, AZ; two nieces Shawntel L. Simeone (Matt) of Peoria, AZ and Nicole M. Green of San Diego, CA; two great nieces Kaylen Simeone and Gianna Simeone, both of Peoria, AZ; one great nephew Sean Simeone of Peoria, AZ and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Green Cemetery, Marche Lateral Road in North Little Rock, AR. Visitation will be held 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, Friday, September 17, 2021 at the funeral home. Face masks are required.
